Brand Guidelines
1. Purpose
1.1 Seas The Stage Dance Convention LLC ("Seas The Stage," "we," "us," or "our") welcomes fans, attendees, faculty, sponsors, vendors, and members of the media (each, a "User") to celebrate, promote, and share their experience of the Seas The Stage Dance Convention. These Brand and Social Media Usage Guidelines (these "Guidelines") explain how Users may — and may not — use the Seas The Stage name, logos, hashtags, and other brand assets.
1.2 By using any of our Brand Assets (defined below), each User agrees to these Guidelines. We may update these Guidelines at any time; the current version will always be posted at [URL].
2. Our Brand Assets
2.1 "Brand Assets" means, collectively:
the name "Seas The Stage" and "Seas The Stage Dance Convention," whether or not stylized;
the Seas The Stage logos and any stylized versions of them;
the hashtags #SeasTheStage, #SeasTheStageDanceConvention, and #SeasTheStageDanceConvention2027, and any successor or additional hashtags we adopt from time to time;
our tagline(s), color palette, and other visual identity elements as published on our website and in any brand kit we provide; and
any additional trademarks, service marks, hashtags, logos, or other brand identifiers we adopt or announce in the future, which are automatically added to and governed by these Guidelines when we begin using them in commerce.
2.2 The Brand Assets are our trademarks or service marks, protected under U.S. and international trademark law, whether registered or unregistered. Use of the ™ symbol reflects our claim of common-law trademark rights; use of the ® symbol, where it appears, reflects registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
3. Permitted Uses (No Advance Permission Needed)
3.1 Provided the use complies with Section 4 (Prohibited Uses) and Section 5 (How to Use Our Brand Assets Properly), the following uses are permitted without our advance written approval:
posting your own photos and videos from the Convention on your personal social media accounts, and tagging them with our hashtags to share your Convention experience;
reposting or resharing our official social media content (with attribution to our official account);
referring to the Convention accurately in commentary, reviews, journalism, or discussion (nominative fair use);
faculty, choreographers, videographers, and other engaged vendors using the Convention name to reference their participation on their professional biographies, resumes, portfolios, and reels, subject to any credit or approval requirements in their agreements with us; and
sponsors and partners using our name and marks to identify their sponsorship, in accordance with the specific usage rights granted in their sponsorship agreement.
4. Prohibited Uses
The following uses are not permitted and may result in a takedown request, revocation of any license, or legal action:
Implying endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation. Do not use the Brand Assets in a way that suggests we sponsor, endorse, approve, or are affiliated with any product, service, event, business, individual, or organization that we have not officially sponsored, endorsed, approved, or affiliated with.
Promoting a competing event. Do not use the Brand Assets to promote any competing dance convention, cruise-based or land-based, or any event that could reasonably be confused with the Seas The Stage Dance Convention.
Selling merchandise. Do not use the Brand Assets on merchandise (apparel, prints, stickers, physical goods, or digital goods) offered for sale, without a written license from us.
Registering domains, handles, or accounts. Do not register a domain name, social media handle, username, or business name that incorporates the Brand Assets or a confusingly similar variation.
Modifying the marks. Do not alter, distort, animate, translate, add words to, change the colors of, or create derivative versions of our logos or names.
Using in harmful, unlawful, or offensive contexts. Do not use the Brand Assets in connection with any content that is harassing, discriminatory, defamatory, obscene, sexually explicit, violent, illegal, or otherwise contrary to community standards.
Filming and photography on the vessel. Do not conduct commercial photography or videography aboard the cruise vessel or at Convention venues without our and the cruise line's written permission. Personal photography and video for non-commercial social sharing is welcome, subject to the cruise line's rules and other attendees' privacy.
Posting others' likenesses without their consent. Do not post photos or videos identifiably featuring other attendees, faculty, or minors without their (or, for a minor, their parent's or legal guardian's) consent. Be especially careful with images of minors.
Impersonation. Do not create social media accounts, email addresses, or communications that impersonate Seas The Stage, our official accounts, our staff, our faculty, or our sponsors.
Scraping or bulk collection. Do not scrape or bulk-collect Convention hashtag content for commercial use, machine-learning training, or resale.
5. How to Use Our Brand Assets Properly
5.1 Use the marks as adjectives. Refer to "the Seas The Stage Dance Convention" or "the Seas The Stage 2027 sailing," rather than using our name as a generic noun or verb.
5.2 Preserve capitalization and formatting. Write our name and hashtags with the capitalization shown in these Guidelines. Do not add spaces, punctuation, or extra characters that change the meaning.
5.3 Do not combine our marks with others. Do not lock up our logos or hashtags with third-party logos or hashtags in a way that suggests joint branding, unless the joint branding has been approved by us in writing.
5.4 Give credit where relevant. When reposting our official content, credit the original account (for example, "via @seasthestage" or "📸: Seas The Stage").
5.5 Include a trademark notice where appropriate. Media outlets, sponsors, and other formal publications should include a footnote or legend acknowledging: "'Seas The Stage,' 'Seas The Stage Dance Convention,' and related marks are trademarks or service marks of Seas The Stage Dance Convention LLC, used with permission."
6. Photos and Videos From the Convention
6.1 Our official media. Photos and videos captured by Seas The Stage or our engaged videographers and photographers belong to us. You may repost our official content on your personal social media with attribution. You may not use our official content for commercial purposes, on merchandise, or in advertising without our written license.
6.2 Your own photos and videos. Photos and videos you take yourself at the Convention belong to you, but by attending the Convention you agreed (through the Participant Waiver and Media Release) to permit our use of your likeness. You are responsible for obtaining consent from any other identifiable individuals appearing in your photos and videos before you post them, and for complying with the cruise line's photography and posting rules.
6.3 Attendees who have opted out of media release. Some attendees have opted out of our Media Release. If an attendee asks you not to post a photo or video of them, please respect that request.
6.4 Music in photos and videos you post. Music at the Convention — including in classes, performances, and social dances — is often commercially released music selected by our faculty and choreographers. If you post photos or videos from the Convention that include this music on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or similar platforms, expect that the platform's automated content-recognition systems may mute your audio, block your post in certain regions, demonetize the post, or apply a copyright strike to your account. Seas The Stage does not license this music for your personal social-media use, and we are not responsible for actions platforms take on your accounts. If you want to avoid this outcome, use short clips (approximately 10 seconds or less), replace the audio with royalty-free music, or post muted footage with text overlays.
7. Sponsors, Partners, and Licensees
If your organization is a sponsor, partner, or licensee, your rights to use the Brand Assets are governed by your sponsorship, partnership, or license agreement with us. These Guidelines are a supplement to, and do not expand, the rights granted in that agreement. If your agreement is silent, please contact us for a brand-use approval before you launch.
8. Reporting Misuse; Takedown Requests
8.1 If you see the Brand Assets being used in a way that violates these Guidelines, please let us know at the contact address in Section 13. We appreciate the community's help in protecting our brand.
8.2 We may request that social media platforms, hosting providers, and search engines take down infringing content, and we may pursue any other remedy available to us, including sending cease-and-desist letters and, where appropriate, initiating trademark infringement litigation.
9. No License; Reservation of Rights
9.1 These Guidelines do not grant any User a license, ownership interest, or other right in the Brand Assets. All rights we do not expressly grant here are reserved. Nothing in these Guidelines creates any partnership, joint venture, agency, franchise, or employment relationship between us and any User.
9.2 We may revoke or restrict any permission granted in Section 3 at any time, for any reason, by written notice or by an updated version of these Guidelines.
10. Enforcement and Governing Law
10.1 These Guidelines are governed by the laws of the State of Florida (and, where applicable, federal trademark law under the Lanham Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1051 et seq.), without regard to conflicts-of-laws principles.
10.2 Any dispute arising out of or related to these Guidelines shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and each User consents to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts.
11. Changes to These Guidelines
We may update these Guidelines at any time. The current version is always posted at https://www.seasthestage.com/brand. Material changes will be announced through our official social media accounts or by email to our mailing list.
12. References to Royal Caribbean and Other Third-Party Marks
12.1 Our arrangement with Royal Caribbean. The Seas The Stage Dance Convention sails as a group booking aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Royal Caribbean is our cruise-line carrier for the sailing. It is not a co-sponsor, co-producer, or partner of the Convention, and it has not licensed us or any User to use its trademarks in Convention-related marketing, promotional, or user-generated content.
12.2 Do not use Royal Caribbean marks. Do not use "Royal Caribbean," "Royal Caribbean International," "Wonder of the Seas," "RCCL," the Royal Caribbean crown-and-anchor logo, any ship name, or any other Royal Caribbean trademark, service mark, logo, or brand element in a way that suggests Royal Caribbean sponsors, endorses, licenses, or is affiliated with the Convention or with any User's content, event, product, or service.
12.3 Factual descriptive references are permitted. You may refer factually and descriptively to the sailing — for example, "the Seas The Stage sailing aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship" or "the Seas The Stage sailing aboard the Wonder of the Seas." Keep any such reference in plain text, without Royal Caribbean logos, stylized ship names, or brand fonts, and without implying more than a factual carrier relationship.
12.4 Photography and social-media posts aboard the vessel. Photos and videos you take aboard the vessel are subject to Royal Caribbean's own guest photography and social-media policies, which you should review on Royal Caribbean's website. Do not photograph or film Royal Caribbean crew, other guests without their consent, or restricted areas of the ship (including the bridge, engine spaces, and lifeboat drill), and do not post content that violates Royal Caribbean's guest policies.
12.5 If in doubt, ask us. If you are unsure whether a proposed reference to Royal Caribbean or the vessel is acceptable, contact us at the address in Section 13 before you publish.
